The software is compatible with Mac and Windows and connects via USB or Ethernet. Advanced users can modify XML presets to fine-tune settings or add new platforms.

Create Point-to-Point Internet-Based Broadcast Links

The Blackmagic Streaming Encoder can create internet-based broadcast links with the Blackmagic Streaming Decoder 4K. The Decoder receives the H.264 or H.265 stream and outputs it to SDI and HDMI video formats, enabling video transmission between remote locations. The Decoder also includes a 12G-SDI reference input for SDI tally, camera control, and talkback, allowing full remote production capabilities while maintaining centralized control.

Connect 5G or 4G Phones for Mobile Data

For maximum flexibility, the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder supports internet connection through smartphone mobile data, ideal for remote locations or as a backup for Ethernet. USB-C ports on both the front and rear panels allow easy phone tethering. It supports the latest high-speed 5G and 4G phones. In the event of an internet failure, the encoder can automatically switch to a tethered phone. Users can prioritize either Ethernet or mobile data connections for optimized performance.

USB Webcam Output for Video Software

Two USB-C connections enable the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder to act as a webcam output for computers, providing compatibility with video conferencing and streaming software such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex. It supports 720p HD, 1080p HD, and 2160p Ultra HD resolutions, ensuring broadcast-quality video output through standard webcam interfaces.

Built-in Technical Monitoring

The Blackmagic Streaming Encoder features a comprehensive monitoring output that includes video preview, audio meters with precise ballistics, trend graphs for codec data rates and cache usage, and a summary of streaming settings. It also displays detailed SDI technical information.
